Primary splenic flexure volvulus
Primary splenic flexure volvulus is a rare entity. We report an acute presentation of primary splenic flexure volvulus with gangrene in a 24-year-old man. Radiograph showed a massively-dilated large bowel loop with a coffee-bean sign. At emergency laparotomy, a distended and gangrenous splenic flexure was found, with absence of all three ligamentous attachments of the splenic flexure.
متن کاملLaparoscopic colonic resection for splenic flexure cancer: our experience
BACKGROUND The treatment of colon cancer located in splenic flexure is not standardized. Laparoscopic approach is still considered a challenging procedure. This study reviews two Institutions experience in laparoscopic treatment of left colonic flexure cancer. Intraoperative, pathologic and postoperative data from patients undergoing laparoscopic splenic flexure resection were analyzed to asses...

BMJ Case Reports Published online: [Please include Day Month Year] doi:10.1136/bcr-2012007866 DESCRIPTION A 27 week gestation baby had a relatively uneventful initial neonatal course. At 3 weeks age, her feeds were increased to 200 ml/kg/day to optimise weight gain. She subsequently developed recurrent desaturations that were felt to be secondary to reflux. Gaviscon was added...
متن کاملCyanoacrylate application on colonic anastomosis: is it safe or not?
INTRODUCTION Major complications of colonic anastomosis include fistula, bleeding, and anastomotic stricture, and the most common one is anastomotic leakage. Many organic or inorganic tissue adhesives are being used such as fibrin glue or cyanoacrylate to strengthen or protect colonic anastomosis. Up to now, a great number of studies have been carried out to investigate the effects of these bio...
متن کاملSplenic flexure volvulus.
Splenic flexure volvulus is rare, only 22 cases having been reported. Though these usually present with chronic intermittent clinical features we recently encountered a case presenting as acute intestinal obstruction which, on plain abdominal X-rays, had classical features of this condition.
